I’m Lucy, and I'm so glad you're here!

For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with creating. Every holiday my parents would gift me new paper, fabric, pastels, paint - anything I could get my hands on. I spent hours exploring and developing my curiosity and creativity. I processed the world around me with my hands.

This love of creating led me to Wake Forest University, where I earned a BFA in Studio Art and graduated with honors.

Today, my paintings remain explorations of the world around me. I move through each day squinting at the light coming through leaves or noticing patterns in a shadow on the ground. I have found that as I have spent more and more time painting, the more colorful my life outside of painting has become.

My work is guided by color, brushwork, and texture. I let the materiality of the paint lead the way. I love the process of building layer upon layer, creating movement that invites the viewer to linger.

In my current practice, I'm inspired by capturing everyday scenes or objects with a sense of awe. Through color and line, my paintings are my meditation on the world around me: renewing the familiar with delight and surprise.

Lucy’s work is a playful and engaging exploration of color, line, and texture. Her works are bold yet subtle, intuitive yet intentional. They are rich with details. There is always something new to notice in the layers of paint.
